Fidra reach halfway! January marks the halfway point of the season and we build from strong foundations...
Our Mens 1s are currently sitting 3rd after a really strong first half with a few notable big wins under their belt, a few disappointing results in there too, often when key players have been missed (stop working on the rigs Scott!). The Captains have demanded (at least!) 120% every week and that’s exactly what has been delivered. Together the team has played 10 league matches so far, with 7 wins and 3 defeats. Everyone is playing their part so far.
Tuesday night is Juniors night in North Berwick, with an ever growing number of keen players! Newbies welcome! We also thank many of our U16 team who have stepped up to lead training sessions.
The ladies team crosses with many of our U16s on double duty, and we’re actively recruiting having unfortunately lost our two experienced captains from last season - Jenni to local rivals (boooo!) and Julie to a rough shoulder injury - get well soon Julie! The ladies continue to build wins through competitive games and give a route for adult returners to hockey.
Our Mens Dev team have had a mixture of fortunes, with wins, losses, and some games called off. We sit second in the league but we are more about building participation with old-timers (sorry!) encouraging those who are stepping up from the junior ranks.
As we look ahead to what 2026 has in store, we have many hockey Saturdays for all, and many goals to be scored! And not forgetting socials in March and May, and an annual trip across the border to Durham. Stick in everyone!
