Not the Lions Day

Fidra turned up at Peffermill hopeful of a decent recent with a squad of 13. With the pre-match and tactics sorted by Gary, the team took to the pitch.

The predicted Uni tactics of moving the ball around the back and up the lines with pace was counteracted by the the tight formation adopted by Fidra. The game was pretty much even with both teams making attacking forays but with no real end product. Uni then took the lead. From a penalty corner there was a scramble after the initial shot and unfortunately a quick push towards goal saw it hit the foot of the post man and a PF awarded.
Matt in goal nearly kept the flick out butt could get enough on in. From their Uni had regained some of their confidence and attacking flow but Fidra held them back an entered half time only 1 goal down.

The team talk at half time saw a Fidra team confident of overturning the deficit.

With the start of the second half the unthinkable happened. With Fidra pressing Uni high a loose ball bobbled passed a defender and the Uni broke. With 3 on 2 Uni capitalised with a finish which saw a back post passed slotted back past Matt in goal as he moved across to cover. Not long after this Fidra pulled one back with some good play. However Uni struck a 3rd to dent Fidra's hopes of a comeback and a final goal close to the end gave Uni a 4-1 win.
